北京時7月18日，在伊利諾伊州舉行的LPGA-國家農場精英賽第一輪結束。本屆國家農場精英賽總獎金170萬美元，冠軍獎金可獲255,000
美元冠軍支票。獎金雖然很豐厚，但卻沒有什麽大牌參賽，奧查婭、索倫斯坦和克裏默，世界排名的前三名統統缺席。最新一期巡回賽獎金榜的前10名隻有兩位球員會出現在春田高爾夫球場（Springfield）上。而獎金榜的前25位確定參賽的有八位。這看起來是新人賺取大額支票的好機會，而憑借讚助商外卡出戰的18歲美少女魏聖美則迎來了最好的上位機會。
本周的國家農場精英賽是魏聖美本賽季參加的第6場LPGA巡回賽，之前五場裏，她最好的成績是第24位，今天她打出了67杆，創造了本賽季在LPGA上最好的成績。魏聖美在早晨出發避免了高溫酷暑，這對她的發揮也很有幫助。有趣的是，上一次她兩年前來伊利諾斯州參加約翰逐鹿精英賽竟然因為中暑而退賽。如今魏聖美覺得伊利諾伊是消暑的好地方，她希望能打出一個好成績刷新她本賽季的最佳成績紀錄。
韓裔美籍小魔女魏聖美出生於1989年10月11日，今年升入世界著名學府斯坦福大學二年級。這位黃皮膚美女連年來被認為是LPGA最出色的未來之星，可惜一直以來未有贏過任何一場比賽。戰績雖然一直比較糟糕，但姣好的樣貌和早熟的身材倒是為她吸引了不少眼球。
