英國新一屆議會6日開始，英國女王伊麗莎白二世在議會大廈內宣布了布朗出任首相後的首項立法大計。盡管這被認為是王室的“例行公事“，但至少沒有一個議員在會議中感到“無聊得要死”，因為英國法律規定，“在議會大廈內死亡”是違法的。盡管英國貴族和議員們身著各種貂皮外套，參加國會會議的各國大使也身穿五顏六色的本國服裝，但至少沒有一人敢穿著盔甲走進議會大廈，因為英國另一條法律規定，“穿盔甲進入議會大廈”也是違法行為。
在議會大廈內死亡違法
在英國UKTV電視台黃金頻道日前將英國許多荒謬法律列成清單，然後讓公眾進行選擇，從而評選出了英國十大最荒謬法律。“在英國議會大廈內死亡違法”被評為英國最荒謬法律。“將印有英國君主頭像的郵票倒貼在信封上即犯下叛國罪”、“在
利物浦市，女人在公共場所裸露上身非法，除非她是熱帶魚商店中的員工”緊隨其後，分列二、三位。
名列最荒謬法律排行榜第四位的是“在聖誕節時不能吃肉餡餅”，第五位則是“在蘇格蘭市，如果有人敲響你家的門，要求使用你家的
衛生間，你必須無條件讓他們進門，否則將違反法律”。 荒謬法律允許合法殺人
許多人對位列第六位的“在英國，孕婦可在任何地方合法小便，包括在警察的頭盔裏”這條法律不滿，最近甚至有人在英國政府網站上呼籲，要求英國首相戈登·布朗剝奪孕婦的這項“特權”，因為“這條法律是對所有英國男警察的侮辱”。
名列第七位的是“在英國海岸發現的任何死鯨魚腦袋，都自動歸國王所有；而發現的任何死鯨魚尾巴，都自動歸女王所有。在英國海濱發現的任何鱘魚，都屬於英國君主。”
第八位是“如果你對納稅員隱瞞某個你不想讓他知道的事，你就違反了英國法律；但如果你隱瞞某些你並不介意讓他知道的事，則是合法的”。第九位則是此前提到的“不得穿著盔甲進入英國議會大廈”，第十位是“在英國約克市的古城牆之內可以合法地殺死一個蘇格蘭人，條件是他的手中拿著弓和箭。”蘭西
世界十大最荒謬法律
英國UKTV電視台黃金頻道還評選出了“世界十大最荒謬法律”，其中美國的荒謬法律最多。排名第一的“世界最荒謬法律”來自美國俄亥俄州，這條法律宣稱“在俄亥俄州逮獲喝醉酒的魚是非法的。”
其他9個“世界最荒謬法律”分別是：二、在印度尼西亞，對手淫的懲罰是“斬首”；三、在巴林，一名男醫生隻能通過鏡中的影像檢查女患者的生殖器官；四、在瑞士，男人隻有在晚上10點後才可以不必站著小便；五、在美國阿拉巴馬州，用布條蒙著眼睛駕駛汽車非法；六、在美國佛羅裏達州，未婚女性在星期天進行跳傘運動將會坐牢；七、在美國佛蒙特州，妻子隻有獲得丈夫的書麵許可後，才可以佩戴假牙；八、在意大利米蘭市，任何時候微笑都是合法的，但在葬禮上或
醫院探病時除外；九、在日本，沒有承諾年齡的說法(承諾年齡指少女法律上達到可以自主的年齡，此年齡少女被認為有能力做出承諾)；十、在法國，給一頭豬取名“拿破侖”違法。
