Down By The Sally Gardens - Maura O\'Connell w Karen Matheson

(2008-02-17 21:32:54) 下一個

This song is a gift to my friend on line 陳默. I am so touched and inspired by her quote of Yeats' lines in her article 《愛的挽歌-我看Atonement》. Cannot agree more about her view of love. This little tune relects my setiment about life and never-vanished devotion for true love...

It's amazing that a few lines can imply such deep meanings and ache my heart in seconds with slight sweetness. I not only love this melody but also the people who played and sang. Passion is obvious in the expression on their faces. Have we all been young and foolish? And now I wish everything will be as natural as the leaves growing on the tree.

Down by the Sally Gardens, my love and I did meet.
She crossed the Sally Gardens with little snow-white feet.
She bid me take love easy, as the leaves grow on the tree,
But I was young and foolish, and with her I did not agree.

In a field down by the river, my love and I did stand
And on my leaning shoulder, she placed her snow-white hand.
She bid me take life easy , as the grass grows on the weirs
But I was young and foolish, and now am full of tears.
