今天清晨，小雨淅淅瀝瀝。我幫妻子砍了幾枝竹子，她想在鐵絲圍欄外圍出一圈竹籬笆。雨越下越大，卻全然阻擋不了她要完成這件事的決心。我常笑她沒有我“聰明”，可她有目標、有熱情，甚至帶著一點“愚蠢”的執著——恰恰是這種執著，讓許多她要做的事從夢變成現實。
我則回到露台帳篷下，聽雨喝茶。無意間，點開了 Steve Jobs 2005 年在斯坦福大學畢業典禮上的演講視頻。許多留言把這與蔣小姐今年在哈佛的演講比。
Steve 在結尾時了強調，
> “Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.”
保持對未知的饑渴，保持年輕的“愚蠢”。
他接著談到“點與線”的故事：
> “You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards.
So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.
You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.
This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”
你無法預先把人生的點點滴滴連接起來，隻有回頭看時才會明白它們之間的聯係。
所以你必須相信這些點終會在未來以某種方式互相連結。
你得相信點什麽——直覺、命運、人生、因果……
這種信念從未讓我失望，卻深刻地改變了我的人生。
許多當下的舉動，也許在當時顯得毫無意義，甚至“不合時宜”。但隻要順隨內心去做，終有一日回望，你會讀懂它們的價值。
Jobs 又說到“尋找所愛”：
> “You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers.
Your work is going to fill a large part of your life…
And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.
If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle.
As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it.”
你必須找到自己所熱愛的事物，這一點對工作如對愛情皆然。
工作將占據你生命中大片時光……
做出傑出工作的唯一方法，就是熱愛你所做的事。
若你尚未找到，就繼續尋找，切勿將就。
關於內心的事，你找到時自會知道。
他一連說了三次 Don’t settle。然而我們許多人——尤其所謂“精致”的華人高知——在婚姻裏衡量的是條件，在工作裏盤算的是利益。“將就”似乎成了理性，卻常常掩蓋了心底真正的渴望。
最後，Jobs 講到死亡：
> “No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there.”
“Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life.”
沒有人想死。即便那些渴望上天堂的人，也不願真靠死亡去那兒。
你的時間有限，不要浪費在過別人的人生上。
> “Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice.
And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.
They somehow already know what you truly want to become.
Everything else is secondary.”
別讓他人的噪音淹沒了你內心的聲音。
最重要的是，要有勇氣追隨你的心與直覺。
它們早已知道你真正想成為什麽樣的人；其他一切，都是次要的。
七年後，Steve Jobs 因癌症於五十六歲離世。生命的長度他無法決定，但他用那有限的時光攀抵了驚人的高度。
平凡如你我——當高度與長度不可兼得，究竟該作何選擇？
或許，Jobs 早給出最好的答案：
> “You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.”
你本來一無所有，沒有理由不去追隨自己的內心。
