Memorial Service (11/25/2020)
We honored Dad in a beautiful service, where we felt the presence from not only family and friends, but also all his readers. The room was overflowing with flowers, filling up the secondary room in a moving display of love and support!

Sea Burial (12/7/2020)
On the 3rd day after we received Dad’s ashes in a beautiful, Himalayan rock salt urn, we went to the ocean and laid him to rest. Dad “jumped waves” with us one last time, and we saw so many rainbows on this beautiful, cloudless, warm December day. The sky and water were so blue, and the waves were like comforting pats on our shoulder telling us that Dad is here and loves us. We felt deeply blessed that we could fulfil his wishes of returning to the sea and to nature, being part of all of us and the universe once more.
Our Uncle also adapted lyrics from a beloved American song, and sang this at Dad’s sea burial.

May his soul rest in Peace

Thank you SO VERY MUCH for sharing with each one of us your father's last journey on this earth! Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
I feel so fortunate to live in an era in which Mr. Yan shares his thoughts, philosophy, his unique way of seeing the world, and his whole world with each one of us. He has touched so many people's hearts and souls. He will not only influence the current generation of the overseas Chinese, but many more in the future.
Mr. Yan had one bold prediction about the country where he came from: the day when his articles can be read, without any barriers and restrictions, by the vast majority of the Chinese people, will be the time when China is truly awakening. I have no doubt about that.
Rest in peace, our dear friend, Mr. Yan!
I like the stories your dad wrote. Very interesting. He was an amazing guy.
I am so sorry for your loss.
Thank you for sharing the memories.
