2004年熱播動畫影片“The polar express （《極地快車》）再次引領我們追問聖誕老人的意義……
“聖誕老人”是童年最真最純的夢，可是，即使等到你遠離童真不再期盼聖誕襪裏的驚喜，你也應該相信聖誕精靈的存在。他不隻是商家手中蓄著雪白胡子的紅衣老人，也不僅僅隻會在聖誕前夕才從煙囪裏冒出來給眾人分發禮物。“聖誕老人”更是博愛、互助的象征，代表著用真心送遞祝福和分享愛心的願望。
世界各地到處都有聖誕老人的身影，他會使用不同的名字，形象也不盡相同。在美國，它叫Santa
Claus，是個圓乎乎胖嘟嘟的快樂小老頭；在德國、奧地利和瑞士，它叫Christkind（耶穌聖嬰），是一個身穿白衣的金發小姑娘；在英國，它叫Father
Christmas（聖誕之父），比其它聖誕老人更莊嚴，更清瘦……
不管它叫做什麽，長成什麽模樣，“聖誕老人”的真正精神在於——你給與了什麽而不是得到了什麽。一旦懂得這些，你就明白，聖誕老人就住在你的心裏麵。
“我向星星許願，並堅持相信，聖誕老人確實存在。我想，他一定很忙，不然不會不來看我。聖誕來臨時，我總會想到聖誕老人，那是一年中最好的時光，所有的人都回家團聚，朋友們聚在一起豎起聖誕樹。平安夜裏，沒有人睡覺，大家都翹首盼望聖誕老人的降臨。他駕著的雪橇鈴聲響起，我聽到了，四周全是鹿鈴聲……”
在影片《極地快車》中，當尋找聖誕老人的火車駛入北極圈，相信聖誕老人存在的小男孩和多才多藝的小女孩站在極地特快車廂的盡頭，合唱了這首憂傷的“When
Christmas comes to
town”（《當聖誕來到小鎮》）。純淨的童音，就像孩子的心靈一塵不染；簡單的歌詞，就是孩子的內心獨語，帶著夢想，充滿真誠，期盼聖誕老人的到來。
