我孩子為了暑假的實習工作，不幸住進了一個蟑螂成災的公寓，在那裏住了三個月，每天和蟑螂鬥智鬥勇。這是孩子第一次自己一個人住一個公寓，還要獨自麵對一個蟑螂王國，細節就不說了，反正經常有令她震驚的新發現。
孩子自從住進那個公寓後，幾乎每天都和我們講蟑螂的問題，她集中火力講了一個多月，甚至做起了蟑螂的噩夢。現在她終於完成實習可以搬走了。她最後一次下班時讓她覺得bittersweet，舍不得離開同事們，又想盡快離開那蟑螂公寓。
一周前孩子給我的text message：
I should be given some kind of award for dealing with the roach problem.
Most mental fortitude and grace of anyone ever who has lived in this apartment.
我立即寫給她的鼓勵：
You used to scream when you see spiders. Now after the roach immersion, you’re able to calmly deal with and co-exist with them, this takes incredible personal strength. Basically you have transformed yourself by lifting your bug-fear away. Although you’re still disgusted by the roaches, you managed to get even with them during this long lasting battle. Here I am honored to issue you the Roach-Combat Hero Award!
孩子一看就高興了，她的滅蟲掙紮和努力被我看到了！她已經和朋友去聽了一個充滿樂趣的演唱會，希望她盡快淡忘這個噩夢。
