本想學唱一首王菲的歌，但好像有人唱過了，也沒找出時間來練一下，那天看到毛阿敏，想起她唱的經典老歌《渴望》的主題曲，就它吧！ 作曲家雷蕾是著名作曲家雷振邦的女兒，畢業於沈陽音樂學院。1982年，她在長春電影製片廠開始影視音樂創作。《渴望》音樂是雷蕾和她的詞作家愛人易茗合作的，兩人在創作中互相激發。雷蕾的一段即興彈奏觸動了易茗的靈感，他寫下了“悠悠歲月，欲說當年好困惑，亦真亦幻難取舍……”的歌詞。
人說這是老百姓心田中流淌出來的音樂，《渴望》電視劇的播出的1990年冬天您在哪兒？那時的親人、朋友、胡同、庭院，是否仿佛曆曆在目，往事如煙？當年正在求學路上的莘莘學子，如你、如我，海內，海外，現在已經人到中年。每個人的生命裏，都有一些歌，經典動聽，有歲月的沉澱，讓你刻骨銘心，無法忘懷，這應算是一首，原唱毛阿敏唱得非常有感情。希望我也能唱得稍有點那個意思吧！
不熟悉這個電視劇的故事梗概在此：20世紀80年代初，中國人民漸漸從十年動亂的災難中複蘇，正開始展望充滿希望和幸福的新生活。在北京的一條胡同中，居住著一戶普通人家，心直口快的劉母（韓影 飾）含辛茹苦拉扯兩個女兒長大。長女慧芳（張凱麗 飾）善良孝順，她喜歡上了同工廠出身知識分子家庭的王滬生（孫鬆 飾），於是不顧母親的反對與之結為夫妻。婚後的生活磕磕絆絆，不同家庭和文化背景讓夫妻倆的相處充滿芥蒂，慧芳收養了一名棄嬰，取名小芳，同廠愛慕她的宋大成則盡心幫助劉家打理一切。平凡人物的一生雖然充滿磨難與考驗，但是劉慧芳的經曆讓我們相信：好人一生平安。
