Q: Is the future in America or China?
A:
It depends on what the people of the world want. After all, it is the future of the people of the world. If the majority of the world wants America First, if they want a future where the US dictates the rules and the rest obey the dictation, then the future is in America. If the majority of the world wants a shared future for mankind, then the future is in China. It is the people who make the future. The future is their future.
If the world wants a future with the US as the hegemon to make wars and conflicts around the world, creating failed states and refugees, then the future is in America. If the world wants a future of peace and common prosperity, then the future is in China.
If the world wants a superior US and the rest to be humble at the mercy of the US, then the future is in America. If the world wants international relationships based on mutual respect and win-win cooperation, then the future is in China.
If the people of the world want a world order that is for the interest of the US only, then the future is in America. If the people of the world want a world order of shared interest, then the future is in China.
We should not honor the US as a beacon of human rights when it bombs countries to rubble. We should not honor the US as a beacon of democracy when it unitalery imposes its domestic law over the world. It is not a democracy. It is tyranny.
The US is the most powerful country with military superiority and monopolies on finance and technology. It is the most powerful country in the world. It is a hegemon. It can use its power to make a future for America. Instead, it abuses its power. It has absolute power, and the absolute power corrupts absolutely. The misuse or abuse of its power destroys the future of America. It is willing to destroy the world economy to maintain its hegemonic position. This corruption should not have a future. The future should not be a unipolar world order.
For the interest of the people in the world, including the people of the US, let’s embrace the vision of a shared future for mankind. We, the Homo sapiens, have a common challenge of climate change. We need mutual respect and win-win cooperation to unite us for a shared future for mankind.
