新西蘭著名女歌手海莉·薇思特拉（Hayley Westenra）演唱過許多優美的歌曲。我第一次聽到是她演唱的《西部往事》（Once Upon a Time in the West），把美國西部的那種遼遠廣闊和滂沱大氣演繹得入木三分，蕩氣回腸，從此就常聽她的歌曲。Hayley的聲音純淨，對音樂和歌詞的把握都很好，對氣息和技巧的運用也是高水平。她的歌裏，有一首叫做I Am a Thousand Winds，翻唱自日本人新井滿作的歌曲《化為千風》（千の風になって），其歌詞讓我一聽便不能忘，十分喜歡，後來便做了一點搜索。這首歌的歌詞來源於美國詩人Mary Elizabeth Frye於1932年所寫的詩作，這首詩在英語國家多有傳播並會在一些特定場合朗誦，由該詩譜寫的歌曲也有多種版本。新井滿將其翻譯為日文並譜曲。Hayley演唱的就是新井滿的版本，英文與原詩略有不同。英文歌詞如下：
