Palm Springs celebrities walk in charity fashion show
A slew of local celebrities and models walked the runway Friday as part of the annual Palm Springs Woman's Club fashion show luncheon at the Riviera Resort.
Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet, Mayor Pro Tem Paul Lewin and Councilman Chris Mills all wore colorful Mr. Turk fashions in the name of charity.
Others who sashayed the runway included former supermodel Shari Belafonte, restaurateurs Mindy Reed and Mel Haber, KMIR TV anchor Thalia Hayden and local film critic Manny the Movie Guy.
The fashions highlighted during the show were provided by Mr. Turk, Tarah Jade, Grayse, Resale Therapy, Bobby G's, Fedor and Oxanna.
The event raises money for scholarships. With a nautical theme, the luncheon was dubbed "All Aboard Our Scholar-Ship."

The club has been helping students attend college for more than 75 years. The organization hoped to raise enough funds at Friday's luncheon to fund two more four-year college scholarships.
Yvonne Cordero — valedictorian of Palm Springs High School and a 2014 scholarship recipient attending California State University San Bernardino, Palm Desert — talked about how much she appreciated the monetary assistance.
"Without this financial help, I would be worried," she said. "I would not be able to focus on my classes."
Two awards also were handed out to honor notable community leaders.
Carolyn Caldwell, chief executive officer of Desert Regional Medical Center, received the Mayor's Award presented by Pougnet. Diane Jessup was given the Pearl McManus Community Service Award, presented by club president Jenny McLean.
