2016年時，曾經在電腦上看過《老人與海》中老漁民聖地亞哥在海上釣魚與鯊魚群搏鬥的過程。在小電影裏，老漁民由一連84天捕不到魚，到後來去深海處捕捉到一條大馬林魚。先是與上千磅重的大馬林魚周旋搏鬥，就在他戰勝了大馬林魚之後，沒想到的是接踵而來的是一大群凶殘且勇猛的大鯊魚。
在《老人與海》的一書中，有些片段在人物的描寫和景物的描寫上是很生動的，而且在海明威的這篇小說裏，他所用的語言既簡練樸實又形像生動。
去年在一個書店裏讀完了這本書。但是印象並不深刻，後來就去書店把這本書買了回來。然後就開始了閱讀這本書《老人與海》，可是在各種各樣的借口中，閱讀變成了停停看看之中，拖延了約一年的時間。很有趣的是，在去古巴旅行的時候，還曾經把《老人與海》這本書帶在身邊，以為在船上閑暇時會有機會把書讀完，沒想到在船上除了睡眠和就餐之外，其他的大部分的時間都被用在拍攝景物上了。還有一點讓我更沒有想到的是，去古巴一行竟然還有機會參觀了海明威在古巴的莊園，以及在Key West的住宅。（Key West 的住宅在2003旅遊時就已經去過了）。
對於一個作家的成長，很多的時候，都會與其個人的經曆和閱曆有著密切的關係。而個人的寫作能力和愛好以及對生活的意義的探索和追求也有著很大的作用。一部好的作品就是一個窗口。而在生活中的素材裏，作者能夠從中挖掘出具有頑強的生命力和勇敢無畏的精神時，那麽就會給人們以啟發和鼓舞，給人們以知識和力量，那麽這樣的書就是一本難得的好書。
在讀這本書的時候，它就象一麵敞向海邊漁民生活的窗口，在那裏從一個側麵向人們展示了海上漁民的捕獵生活。當人們在餐桌上能夠品嚐鮮魚的美味佳肴時，人們可曾想到那些漁民們在海上捕獵的過程曾經是一場場充滿驚險的搏鬥。在《老人與海》一書中，我們看到了一幅幅多麽艱辛的場麵。漁民出海打魚，不僅要麵對著波浪起伏的大海，受著天氣上的影響和製約，而且還要冒著被鯊魚群攻擊的威脅。
在讀這本書的時候，發現某些片段的描寫很精彩，會陸續的摘選出來。因為水平有限，所以在翻譯的過程中還借助了中文一書《老人與海》的譯本進行了更改。（我是先讀完英文之後進行翻譯，但是在較難的地方 ，就會去參考一下真正的譯文版本。這樣發出來的東西就不會影響別人。）
《The Old Man and the Sea 》
“The old man was thin and gaunt with deep wrinkles in the back of his neck. The brown blotches of the benevolent skin cancer the sun brings from its reflection on the tropic sea were on his cheeks. The blotches ran well down the sides of his face and his hands had the deep-creased scars from handling heavy fish on the cords . But none of these scars were fresh. They were as old as erosions in a fishless desert.
Everything about him was old except his eyes and they were the same color as the sea and were cheerful and undefeated.”
老人看上去身體消瘦，麵容憔悴。在他脖子的後麵分布著很深的皺紋,腮幫子上有些褐斑。那是陽光在熱帶海麵上反射的光線給他的皮膚上留下了的斑點。這種大斑點從他的臉上一直延伸下去。他的雙手經常用繩索拉大魚而留下了深深的疤痕。可是這些疤痕沒有一塊是新的。它們就像無魚可打的沙漠中被侵蝕的地方一樣的古老。
老人看上去除了很老以外，可是在他的一雙海水般的藍色眼睛裏充滿了快樂和不服輸的目光。
“I can remember the tail slapping and banging and the thwart breaking and the noise of the clubbing. I can remember you throwing me into the bow where the wet coiled lines were and feeling the whole boat shiver and the noise of you clubbing him like chopping a tree down and the sweet blood smell all over me”
我記得魚尾巴啪啪的拍打著，船上的座板都被打斷了，還有你用棍棒快速打魚的聲音。我還記得你把我推到船頭， 在那兒有濕漉漉的釣索卷兒，我當時感覺整個的船都在顫動。你用棒子打魚時就象砍一棵樹似的，而且帶著甜味的魚血飛濺到了我的身上。
“They picked up the gear from the boat. The old man carried the mast on his shoulder and the boy carried the wooden box with the coiled, hard-braided brown lines, the gaff and the harpoon with its shaft. The box with the baits was under the stern of the skiff along with the club that was used to subdue the big fish when they were brought alongside. No one would steal from the old man but it was better to take the sail and the heavy lines home as the dew was bad for them and , though he was quite sure no local people would steal from him, the old man thought that a gaff and a harpoon were needless temptations to leave in a boat.”
他們從船上拿起打魚的工具。老漁民把桅杆扛在肩上，小男孩拿著裏麵放著編得很緊密的褐色釣索卷兒的木箱，魚鉤個帶杆子的魚叉。盛魚餌的匣子藏在小船的船梢底下， 那兒還有一根在大魚被拖到船弦時用來收拾它們的棍子。誰也不會來偷老人的東西，雖然老漁民很確定當地人不會偷他的東西，但是他想一種魚叉盒一種魚鉤沒有必要留在船上以免引起別人的注意。
"When the boy came back the old man was asleep in the chair and the sun was down. The boy took the old army blanket off the bed and spread it over the back of the chair and over the the old man's shoulders. They were strange shoulders, still powerful although very old, and the neck was still strong too and the creases did not show so much when the old man was asleep and his head fallen forward. His shirt had been patched so many times that it was like the sail and the patches were faded to many different shades by the sun. The old man's head was very old though and with his eyes closed there was no life in his face. The newspaper lay across his knees and the weight of his arm held it there in the evening breeze. He was barefooted"
當小男孩回到老漁民的小房時，隻見老人已經在椅子上睡著了，夕陽正在下沉。小男孩拿過一個舊軍毯鋪在椅背上，蓋住了老人的肩膀上。這是曾經很強壯的肩膀，雖然老了，但是還是很有力量。脖子也很結實。老人在睡著的時候，他的頭部向前低著，所以很結實的脖子上的皺褶就沒有那麽明顯。他的衣服被補過多次就象船帆上的補丁在陽光照射下已經褪色了。老人的麵孔看上去很蒼老，他閉著眼睛，看上去好象沒有了生氣一般。報紙攤在老人的膝蓋上，在晚風裏， 靠他一條胳膊壓著才沒被吹走。和垂下的胳膊，他還赤著腳。

《The old man and the Sea》---《老人與海》是美國作家歐內斯特。海明威在生前最後的一部主要作品，於1952年出版。在書裏介紹的是一個海上漁民在捕獲大馬林魚時的博鬥故事。當他戰勝了大馬林魚時，沒想到死去的魚血又引來了一群迅猛且又凶殘的鯊魚群。最後老漁民為了保護自己的勞動果實而和鯊魚群不得不進行了一場背水一戰。
1935年，一名老漁民告訴歐內斯特。海明威，說自己曾經捕捉到一條大馬林魚。可是後來在鯊魚群的輪番進攻下，他捕捉到的一條大魚最後都被吃掉了。這個動人的故事給海明威帶來了創作上的靈感和衝動。後來在經過八周的時間後，海明威就寫下了這部著名的中篇小說。1954年海明威獲得了諾貝爾文學奬。
