MILWAUKEE -- Earlier this month, the Milwaukee Brewers roughed up St. Zack Greinke Jersey . Louis starter Edwin Jackson for 10 runs in seven innings. What a difference 27 days makes. Jackson pitched seven solid innings and singled home the go-ahead run to help the Cardinals beat the Brewers 2-1 on Tuesday night. "Thats a great team," Jackson said of Milwaukee. "They have a lot of guys who can put the ball out of the ballpark. The game plan today was just come in and be aggressive. If I got hurt, you know, get hurt being aggressive around the plate." The assertiveness paid off. Jackson was sharp for the sixth time in seven starts since being obtained in a July 27 trade, striking out three without walking a batter. "Edwin Jackson was outstanding," Milwaukee manager Ron Roenicke said. "That was as good as Ive seen him throw." Despite the win, the Cardinals still are 9 1/2 games behind the Brewers in the NL Central and have 27 games remaining. "You dont see anybody celebrating," St. Louis manager Tony La Russa said. Jackson (4-2) scattered six hits and kept Milwaukee scoreless until Corey Hart and Nyjer Morgan hit consecutive doubles to open the sixth, pulling the Brewers within 2-1. Morgan was stranded, though, as the right-hander retired Ryan Braun, Prince Fielder and Casey McGehee in order. "It was really impressive," La Russa said. Jacksons outing was in stark contrast to the last time he faced Milwaukee, giving up 10 runs in seven innings in the Brewers 10-5 win over the Cardinals on Aug. 3. Marc Rzepczynski walked Fielder to open the ninth, and Fernando Salas replaced him and walked McGehee. Salas, though, recorded the final three outs for his 23rd save in 28 chances. "They scared the hell out of us every inning, just about," La Russa said. Milwaukee starter Shaun Marcum (11-5) lost his second consecutive start despite not allowing an earned run. The right-hander went seven innings, allowing only two unearned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four. "They pitched well against us and we didnt do very much," La Russa said. "But, we pitched well, too, and defended well." Defence was the difference for the Cardinals. Albert Pujols made three nice plays, charging a bunt and catching it on the fly in the first, making a running catch to snag a foul pop in the second and firing to third to get a force out for the first out in the ninth. "To win a game like this, 2-1, you obviously have to play some good defence," Pujols said. "Thats what we did today." The Cardinals scored a pair of unearned runs in the fifth. Skip Schumakers hard grounder went through Fielders legs at first base for an error to open the inning. Rafael Furcal then hit a grounder to second, but Jerry Hairston Jr. bobbled it for another error. "That happens," Marcum said. "Thats baseball. It has happened to every pitcher in this game. There is nothing you can do about it. I just kept going out there pitching and doing my job." Yadier Molina singled to load the bases and Jackson singled to right, scoring Schumaker to give St. Louis a 1-0 lead. John Jay followed with a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Furcal for a 2-0 Cardinals lead. This three-game series appeared to be key in the pennant stretch when St. Louis beat Milwaukee on Aug. 11 to pull within four games of first place, but the Brewers went 14-3 and the Cardinals went 7-9 in between the two series. Morgan had three hits -- two singles and a double -- and a stolen base for Milwaukee. The Cardinals loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth, but Marco Estrada got Ryan Theriot to ground out to end the inning. Notes: Cards 1B Pujols made a one-handed catch of a foul ball in the second, showed the ball to a fan and pulled it back as the man reached for the ball. The move drew considerable boos from the sellout Miller Park crowd. Cardinals RF Lance Berkman batted second in the lineup for the first time this year. He went 0-for-4. . Brewers RF Corey Hart extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a first-inning single. . Brewers LHP Manny Parra, who has missed the entire season with an injured left elbow, underwent surgery Tuesday to have bone spurs removed from the elbow. . Milwaukee CF Carlos Gomez, on the DL with a fractured left clavicle, is expected to rejoin the Brewers Thursday, when teams can expand their rosters. . Brewers LHP Randy Wolf will face the Cards RHP Jake Westbrook Wednesday night in the second game of the series. Wolf is 5-0 with a no-decision in his last six starts. Westbrook has lost both starts against the Brewers this year, posting a 4.85 ERA in those games. Andre Ethier Jersey . Elliott Peterson, Connor Rankin and Kenton Helgesen supplied the scoring for the Hitmen (43-15-7), who are 11-0-1 in their last 12 games. Greg Chase assisted on all three. Edgars Kulda and Mitchell Moroz scored for the Oil Kings (44-16-3), who now trail Calgary by two points for top spot in the Eastern Conference. Kenley Jansen Jersey . -- Jason Day, who tied for second at the Masters and U. BRISTOL, Conn. -- Police believe former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez was in an SUV when someone inside shot two people to death in Boston in 2012, according to a search warrant filed in Connecticut. The warrant does not indicate who investigators believe pulled the trigger or suggest a motive in the shooting of Daniel Jorge Correia de Abreu and Safiro Teixeira Furtado in Bostons South End. No charges have been filed in the case. An attorney for Hernandez did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment Wednesday. Hernandez came under scrutiny in the shooting following his arrest in the slaying of Odin Lloyd, a semi-professional football player whose body was found June 17 near Hernandezs North Attleborough, Mass., home. Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to murder in that case. In searching a home of Hernandezs uncle in Bristol, Conn., in June, police found the SUV wanted in the 2012 shooting in Boston. The new search warrant, first reported by The Hartford Courant, was filed in Bristol Superior Court and dated Dec. 11. It sought recordings of phone calls made by a Hernandez associate, Alexander Bradley, while Bradley was jailed in Hartford in October for failing to appear before a Massachusetts grand jury investigating the 2012 shooting. Bradley has alleged in a pending lawsuit in Florida that Hernandez shot him in the face after they argued outside a Miami club in February 2013. The search warrant filed by Bristol police provides some of the first details of Hernandezs alleged link to the Boston shooting. Surveillance camera recordings showed Hernandez and Bradley going into the Boston nightclub Cure at about 12:30 a.m. on July 16, 2012, shortly after the shooting victims went into the club, according to the warrant. Hernandezs movements inside the club werent recorded, but police said Hernandez quickly downed two drinks and thaat he and Bradley left after about 10 minutes. Jackie Robinson Jersey. Surveillance video then showed Hernandez driving a Toyota 4Runner SUV out of a nearby parking garage with Bradley as a passenger, police said. The footage shows the victims leaving the club at about 2:10 a.m., and Hernandezs SUV passing by them twice as they walked to a parking garage to get their car, the warrant says. The shooting wasnt recorded by any cameras. A third man who was shot in the car but survived, Aquilino Freire, told police an SUV pulled up next to them while they were stopped at a traffic light, and he saw someone in the SUVs back seat laughing, the warrant says. Then, several gunshots were fired from the rear passenger seat into the car, Freire told police. Two other people in the car ran away, Freire said. A witness in another car told investigators that he saw an SUV with Rhode Island license plates run a red light, stop next to the victims car and he heard six gunshots. He described the SUV driver as a light-skinned Hispanic man with short dark hair. Another witness gave authorities the same description of the driver and said there was a passenger with hair that was either braided or had beads in it. The witness wasnt sure if the passenger was a man or woman. Hernandez has short dark hair, as does Bradley, according to police booking photos. When Bradley was being detained at the Hartford Correctional Center, he was informed that all phone calls by prisoners are subject to monitoring. An announcement repeated randomly during the phone calls tells both people on the call that it is being recorded, the warrant says. A correctional officer who was monitoring Bradleys calls alerted Bristol police that he believed Bradley discussed details of the Boston shooting in calls to people whom police did not identify. That led police to apply for the search warrant. wholesale nfl jerseys cheap jerseys from china ' ' '
