Saturday's Run

I stayed a couch potato the whole week and didn't have high
hopes for today's run. My right hand has recovered 90% and I
did a full weight session on Wed. But other than that, most
of the days, I didn't even walk enough for some decent
exercise. My legs felt rusty and spirit low. Today, I just
wanted to finish a long run.
I went on my usual route at around 8:00am and got into the
hills by mile 6. My speed fluctuated between 8min and over
9min and by the time I reached the water fountains, I was
exhausted. Worse, this never happened before but there was
no water! I trodded on still hoping to run 10 miles.
Back on the levee, the sun started to beat down. The heat
made the thirst felt worse and my pace whittled away. A
thought struck me "What if my health, excellent as it is
now, should leave me?" "What should one do in preparation
for that event?"
My calves started to hurt and I had to stop. Overall 11.5
miles at 8:40.
I spent the rest of the day recovering, mostly eating,
sleeping, and watching videos.
