A Painful Run
I didn't run in the past week and stayed mostly a couch potato.
My wrist sprain and especially the pain under the right thumb
have been healing slowly, spreading the message of weakness
to the rest of the body. My legs were rusty and spirit low. It has
not been a good feeling.
I tried to see if I can still run a good pace over an HM. The first
7 miles were under 8:00 but exhausting. From mile 8 on, I had
to slow down to around 8:30 and finished 11 miles at an overall
pace of 8:08/mile. Dehydration was a factor and today was hot.
What surprised me was the after-run effects. The tendons and
ligaments hurt. Over the next 8 hours, I slept 4. Sleeping felt
good but I haven't been this tired since first long run.
OK. Come what may.
