一個文科女生轉CS

中國女留學生，2019年秋被CMU 本科錄取，humanities and social science，入學專業是psychology，沒有STEM background. （注：所用英文出自她自己）

第一年選課（部分）：

• 66-106 Social Science Scholars First Year Seminar
• 76-100 Reading and Writing in an Academic Context 因為沒有通過英文placement測試，不得不上這麽其他人不上的英文課
• 21-127 Concepts of Mathematics （三門中最容易的一門數學概念課）
• 76-101 Interpretation and Argument （所有一年級學生必修英文課）
• 73-102 Principles of Microeconomics
• 99-251 Seminar for Supplemental Instruction
• 33-124 Introduction to Astronomy
• 36-225 Introduction to Probability Theory 有意轉統計專業
• 36-226 Introduction to Statistical Inference

第二年秋季選課（部分）：

• 36-401 Modern Regression 這門統計方法課吃力，尤其是數學太難，打消了轉統計專業的念頭，開始考慮IS專業

第二年春季選課（部分）：

• 67-250 The Information Systems Milieux 這是 IS （information system）專業必修課，通過這門課，轉入 IS 專業

第三年，選了CS課，得到 Amplitude實習

第四年，2023年，畢業，拿了 IS和CS雙major.

截至 2022年 11月，已經得到如下公司的 job offers:

我個人感覺，不僅她非常成功，而且CS找工好像也不難。一個英文不過硬，招工受限製，沒有STEM基礎的外國文科女生，實際隻有2年真正攻讀 IS 和 CS，都能拿到這麽多offers。那麽對於廣大美國出生專攻CS的，從中學就開始學 CS的，不應該一點機會都沒有吧。
