Post-doctorate 
Research projects: Crystal structure studies on superantigen/receptors 
complexes (MAM and HERV superantigens); chimeric rubredoxins; and non-
structural proteins of flaviviruses.
Major findings: Crystal structure of a ternary immune complex of 
murine scTCR (T7, modified from CD8+ T cell clone), superantigen MAM, 
and human pMHC II (HA-DR1), which shows that the superantigen bridges 
scTCR and pMHCII, and the superantigen interacts with TCR both  and α 
chains.
Hands-on skills: molecular cloning; E. coli culture; protein 
purification; crystallization; data collection, structure 
determination and refinement.

Education:
Aug. 1999- Aug. 2003: Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Ph.D. in Chemistry 
Research project: structural studies on Serum Amyloid A (SAA) protein 
and its amyloid fibril formation in vitro. SAA is a major acute phase 
reactant, and bound to high-density lipoprotein. 
Major findings: Protein SAA has a marginal structural stability, so it 
is very labile to significant structural changes on the 2°, 3°, and 4° 
structural levels due to its primary structural or environmental 
changes. During its amyloid fibrillization, SAA can misfold into 
oligomeric intermediate of specific stoichiometry, e.g., apparent 
octomer for SAA2.2..

Hands-on skills: E. coli culture; protein purification; protein 
structural analysis by dynamic light scattering, UV spectroscopy, 
circular dichroism, fluorescence spectroscopy, chemical cross-linking,
