周末賽馬會

 
上周5和GF們去看賽馬.因為有個GF非常喜歡賭馬,幾乎每月都要去看, 我隻是喜歡那種現場熱情的比賽感覺,偶爾小賭,最高記錄是有次賭了$200. 那天雖然是周5但看的人超多的,有個GF就很沒有sense的說其實經濟危機也是很好的,至少現在大家都沒事做就過來陪我們看賽馬.我就tease說上帝原涼她吧,她已經被太陽曬昏了都不知道在講什麽. 其他GF就在旁邊狂笑.

先來簡單介紹…

Equestrianism is called world's most noble sport,and refers to the skill of riding, driving, steeplechasing or vaulting with horses.

Racing terms---

Maiden race: race 4 horses that have never won a race

Allowance race:classified by conditions of past performances of the horse.

Claiming race:race divided into price categories for which a horse may be claimed out of the race

Stakes race:highest quality race, often requiring entry fees

Blinkers: headgear worn by a horse to focus it’s vision and prevent distractions Furlong:a furlong equals 220 yard or 1/8 mile

Handle:amount of money wagered on a single race or a full day of racing

Morning line: the track handicapper’s estimate of the probable odds for each horse at post time

Scratch: a horse that has been withdrawn from a race

Silks: a jockey's shirt and cap w/ colors and a pattern selected by the horse owner

Betting Terms---$2 is minimum bet

Win:collects if the horse finishes 1st.

Place:collects if the horse finishes 1st./2nd.

Show: collects if the horse finishes 1st,2nd and 3rd

Extra:collects if u select 2 horses in 1 race to finish 1st and 2nd. in exact order

Quinella:collects if u select 2 horses in 1 race to finish 1st & 2nd.in either order

Trifecta: collects if u select 3 horses in 1 race to finish 1st,2nd.& 3rd in exact order

Superfecta:collects if u select 4 horses in 1 race to finish 1st,2nd,3rd & 4th in exact order

Super high 5:collects if u select 5 horses in 1 race to finish 1st,2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th.in exact order

Daily double: collects if u pick the horses that win each of 2 designated consecutive races.

Pick 3,4,5,6:collects if u pick the horses that win each of 3, 4, 5 or 6 designated consecutive races.

當然還有很多其他的term & rules, 但我隻知道以上幾點.

賽馬會總共賽8場.1st. race for 1mile turf, 2nd. race for 6 ½ furlongs, 3rd. race for 1 1/16 mile turf, 4th. race for 7 furlongs, 5th. race for 6 furlongs, 6th. Race for 5 ½ furlongs, 7th race for 5 furlongs turf, 8th race for 6 furlongs. 有時是跑turf, 有時是跑main ground. 比賽時有ambulance緊跟在後麵可以在horse or Jockeys 受傷時緊急搶救.

比賽很快每次隻是幾分鍾, 結束後中間會有40mins休息, 賽道就會有不同的車和工人跑出來修整turf and mail ground, moisture and soft, to meet 4 track conditions as good, yielding, soft (holding),heavy.

大家可以到外廳preview place查看參加下場的horse & Jockeys下注. 從開始到結束要在裏麵混5-6個小時, 所以很多人就在裏麵吃晚餐, 當然你也可以出去走走, 再憑手上的印號入場. 賽馬內不準吸煙但我還是看到很多男士咬著cigar轉來轉去, 想像點燃後的感覺.

有經驗的賽馬人會很仔細的看brochure or paper再下注, 因為裏麵有每場比賽的horse & Jockeys & trainer 的詳細資料, like horse name, breeds, age, weight, claiming price, purse price, performances history, Jockey and Trainer standings etc.

也有像我這樣不太懂的,直接就看cute horse name or hot Jockey or just mood……這樣下注的結果就是輸的很慘,不過我上周5都沒賭, 怕把自己的運氣全輸掉了, 哈哈哈.

結束後我們再去參加cocktail party, our slogan was “Get Drunk Or Go Home!” no worries, cuz we got a limo~~! Happy Summer~
