清末，朝政腐敗，民不聊生。藥店少東黃麒英（黃日華）富正義感，拜南拳王陸阿采為師，練得一身好功夫。北腿王傳人田慧男（梁琤），南下為父報仇，巧遇英，兩人建立深厚情誼。富商獨女宋綺文（劉錦玲）敬佩英的俠義行為，心生傾慕，但英卻鍾情男，而天生神力的鐵橋三（郭政鴻）卻又暗戀文……
時莽古格爾（於連增）為兩廣總督，表麵不懂武功，實得鷹爪功真傳，武功高強，暗地裏借白蓮教之名，荼毒百姓。男殺父仇人苗卓峰為找尋鷹爪王南下，聯同采創新招式欲破鷹爪功，惜二人同遭莽毒手，臨終前將畢生武術分別傳給英與男。
後英以「虎鶴雙型拳」大破白蓮教，識破莽之陰謀，更與男聯創「無影腿」破鷹爪殺莽，完成采、苗的遺願。但英、男與文糾纏不清的三角關係，他們又如何自處呢？
