馬昀飛，這個被認為年輕毛躁的上尉軍官，陰差陽錯地參與了兩次挫敗石岩夫舊部劫救師團長的企圖，從而被任命為國防部特勤小組組長。他不顧自己地下黨員身份 已被懷疑的處境，在黨組織支持下，帶領四名組員，開始了危機重重的押送戰犯曆程。
從東京到大連，從天津到武漢，從蕪湖到上海……從空中到海上，從火車到駁船，從農村到城市……麵對明裏暗裏交替出現的兩股敵人——日本軍國主義死三角分子 和尚未暴露的軍委會漢奸高官，馬昀飛等始終以民族大義和國家利益為最高宗旨，艱苦卓絕，鬥智鬥勇，大義凜然，不畏犧牲，最終將罪大惡極的戰犯押回南京，押 上法庭；同時揭露了當年出賣三百部下給731細菌部隊當“馬路大”（試驗品）的驚天大案，使得道貌岸然的董玉清中將畏罪自殺。
已經完成任務的馬昀飛脫身在際，卻驚聞石岩夫舊部劫獄。他不顧個人安危，重又返身撲向險叢中。他的壯舉引起始終在監視他的特勤小組副組長孟凡彬中尉的敬 重。最終在製服了日酋及其殘部之後，孟凡彬追隨馬昀飛一起乘船跨江，奔向了解放區……
