《大珍珠》講述了上世紀二三十年代發生在南方某省“藍鎮”的故事。該劇以珍珠命名主人公，是以珍珠的寓意為基礎，集中表現作為豪門千金和知識女性的白珍珠 大起大落的坎坷人生，以及她在逆境中不甘沉淪重新站起來的人生態度和人格魅力。一如早年的經典日劇《阿信》和目前正風靡全亞洲的韓劇《大長今》，透過主人 翁積極向上的人格特質，輝映出一個跨越年齡、性別、時代的人生哲理。

中國南方某省的白鎮，白氏家族從前時代即宛若一個小皇朝似地盤據在這兒，家族興旺，財勢龐大。白家主人白常天垂垂老矣，來自鎮內外的豺狼虎豹對白氏的家產 覬覦已久，然而白氏家族內部的妻妾與兒子也迫不及待地展開鯨吞蠶食。就在白氏家族麵臨著內憂外患的時候，白常天最寵愛的女兒白珍珠留學返鄉。她的到來，讓 常天看到了一絲希望，也讓家族成員們嫉恨排擠。白珍珠不愧為女中強人，迅速斡洲於家族內外。白常天有意將家族掌門人傳給珍珠，豈料到外敵環伺。
白珍珠因一場意外與白家死對頭夏家公子沐霖一見鍾情，豈知夏沐霖已是妹妹永芳的未婚夫，兩人相見恨晚。而此時白家上下陰謀逼得白珍珠無法立足於白家，最 後，白珍珠下嫁佃戶劉玉峰。可她萬萬沒想到，這場婚姻正是悲劇的開始……
