finish the interview

Finally, I was done with all my interview last thursday in Cincy. Actually, I dropped one IV in UT houston after some struggling. I like the city of houston very much and the reputation of MD anderson, but it costs a lot and i know i won't rank it high because of the specialty, possible moving and the malignant training. This program is very similar to the UTSW Dallas, and many people told me that it is going down hill compared to UTHSCSA. IT was tough decision. I was exausted and want to save teh money for my Enlgish class.  I alwyas want to hire an English coach to help me with my accent whch is killing me.

Trying to recall some interesting and dramatic things about the programs I just visited. Mayo clinic is a extraordinary program I love. it is a very warm institute with great support. It is either number 1 or 2 in medicine, comparable o JH, but with better reputation of great patient care--always put patient first. All the Doc wear suit, except on call residents. The schedule is also very nice--5-month on call. in/out patient--50:50. no night float. The residents seems happy. But only 2-3 residents showed up for the free prenterview dinner. One of the PGY3 sounded interesting. Shared a story with us about a preliminary intern falsed their application and almost got accepted into Duke. Of course, he was punished by being barred from further matching for the rest of his life.  The resident told us many times, enjoy your last year, took the step3 before u started the intership, so whatever you like. He always remembered the people he was in fourth year during his difficult time in residency. Sound like sad and depressed. Sigh.. unpredictable.  two interviewers are very nice asking me many questions about my research. Nobody asked me this kind of questions before. I am glad I was prepared. thought the question about my IPF project I almost forgot. Dr. J in my AHE helped me prepare an interesting, but didn't use it. It is always safe to ask questions about the kid education and how they like the city and their favorite part of this program. The indian profesor's Engish is perfect with accent admit that people in Rochester is homogenous, but Another AA professor said it is diverse. Rochester is a small town with 100, 000 people, and 1/3 work in Mayo and maybe 1/3 in IBM. Not very convenient, rushed back to Minneapolis airport after IV which is 90 min away. My flight was 526pm. I made it. Other applicants also love this program.
