New Car Title - under whose name

Last year, wife want to have a new car. Since there are problems with two old cars, the 98 car timing belt breaked on the way back from work, and the Van was wrecked by hit and run when parked on the street, we do need anther one. Will put one more entry about these two veichles.

After research and online quote, I choose a Toyota dealearship for. Usually, dealer is willing to go lower on quote, if you are buying at end of each month. I asked the out of door price, this way it is better to compare with other dealship's quote.

We called and arranged everything over the weekend. Since it is near the end of March, I will have to take a day off and do the paper work. I went there myself, since my wife needs to work. When put into ownship on the title, I made some mistake. I told the the financial manager in the dealership, I want both our name in the title. He said I dont need to do so, since the car will be the survior's anyway, and that what he does. Otherwise, he hinted, my wife had to be there in signing. I did hesitate a bit, but said ok. On the way back, I thought I might be in trouble. Unfortunately, I am right. My wife has mentioned many times on the issue since. Yesterday, her best friend called, and said that they bought a new car with her title only. Wow, I am in trouble. Although, she called back said I should be excuessed since my wife did not go the dealship.

I do hope she can have easy going mind-set, not just on this but on ways of living in general. She is getting better. I may be able to change the title to her name, but no such need.  It is not necessary even for her benifit, won't make any difference even if we are separating.

My 2 cents, if you have a wife like to getting all the details, when buying new car bring her to the signing, and have her sign as solo owner.
