王建中（ 1933- ）作曲家、鋼琴家。祖籍江蘇江陰，生於上海。10歲開始學習鋼琴。1950年考人上海音樂學院，先後就讀於作曲係、鋼琴係。1958年畢業留校任教。70年代任中央樂團創作員。80年代返母校執教。曆任該院作曲係副教授、教授、副係主任、副院長。其音樂創作以鋼琴作品為主，代表作：鋼琴協奏曲《紅旗渠畔》有獨奏曲《雲南民歌五首》、《陝北民歌四首》、《梅花三弄》（根據同名民族器樂曲改編），《小奏鳴曲》、《鋼琴組曲》。此外，尚寫有《小提琴奏鳴曲》及弦樂重奏等。
《百鳥朝鳳》是一首根據同名民族器樂曲改編的鋼琴獨奏曲，作於1973年。在樂曲中，作曲家對如何更好地運用鋼琴語言表現我國優秀的傳統音樂作了可貴的探索。該曲在海內外曾被廣泛采用。
[感想]以前都不知道作曲家王建中，是因為聽鋼琴曲《彩雲追月》， 《瀏陽河》等鋼琴曲時，覺得怎麽這麽美啊？作曲家是誰呢？很慚愧作生活在海外的中國人，我自己還是在讀李雲迪卡耐基獨奏音樂會的一篇音樂評論知道作曲家王建中， 王建中不愧為中國的Bartók ，在中國像他這樣默默耕耘挖掘中國民樂的音樂家應該還是不少的，雖然他們的音樂作品沒有獲過奧斯卡或其他國際大獎，但他們創作的音樂深入人心，會流傳下去，而且漸漸為西方聽眾所熟悉了， 也很感謝李雲迪，朗朗，陳莎等國際知名的中國鋼琴家，把中國優美的鋼琴曲介紹給西方聽眾， 好聽的東西是沒有國界的， 總是有聽眾的。

Rosy Clouds Chasing after the Moon and Five Yunnan Folksongs are two of his most well-known works, written in a style that draws on late-Romantic and early 20th-century Western styles, variously reminiscent of Albéniz, Ravel and even Bartók.
