Request engine replacement
Q1:I own a 84 Buick LeSabre with 139,000 miles. A few months ago, I had the original carburetor replaced with a rebuilt one. Since that time. the "check engine" light comes on while driving, and it takes a long time to come off the fast cold idle speed. The mechanic says the "check engine"light is just resetting, and the long time cold idle speed is normal. PLZ advise.

ANSWER(By Car Detective D'AMATO):Scan test to find the trouble code.long time cold idle speed is adjust simplely by leaningthe chok thermostat spring.Sometimes the original rivets need to be drilled out and self taping screws installed to hold the chok stove in place. I have seen a lot of rebuilt carburetors that are defective out of the box.At this point you may need a 2nd opinion on your problem.
