巴士之旅（2）：完美的美

這是非常忙碌的一天，我們既要看風景又要趕路。第一站是大鹽湖，一望無際的水麵，是西半球最大的鹹水湖。那個水的鹹度，可比海水還要高多啦，隻是沒有膽量嚐它一口。大鹽湖是世界上第四大終端湖，也就是湖水隻進不出，湖水的流失隻靠蒸發，所以湖中的礦物質都沉澱了下來。雖然大鹽湖被稱為“美國的死海”，湖裏的活物可不少，有數以百萬計的鳥類，小蝦，水鳥，和水禽。

鹽湖城也是摩門教的總部，我們的導遊是兩位姐妹，一位來自馬來西亞，另一位來自印度尼西亞。馬來西亞姐妹的中文不錯，雖然夾雜著一些口音，她向我們介紹了這座著名的教堂。盛開的鮮花，神秘的傳說，真是一個奇妙的曆程。

獨立岩是一塊大型花崗石，是懷俄明州著名的開發西部地標，處於Oregon Trail，Mormon Trail， 和California Trail的交匯處。十年前老公帶著兒子上去了，這次他帶著兒女一起上了。

大鹽湖是迷人的，摩門教堂是美麗的，甚至獨立岩也是完整的。雖然一天下來相當的累，但是這是快樂的一天，所見的一切完整而又美麗！

Today was the second day of our Yosemite trip. We had lots of distance to cover once again, from Nevada to Wyoming, so most of the day was once again driving on the bus. In the morning, we passed through the Great Salt Lake, which by itself was nothing too special, but it was set with a breathtaking background of mountains and hills. Right after we left the Great Salt Lake, Salt Lake City was right around the corner. In the city, we looked at the capitol building, as well as the Mormon Church. I really liked the two monuments because they both looked quite clean and in great condition, which usually isn’t the case with very old buildings.

After Salt Lake City, we passed Utah, heading for Wyoming. Our landmark of the day was Independence Rock, a 40 meter high rock which once was an important landmark for old settlers deciding whether to try to get to California or Oregon or wait out the winter before attempting to finish the journey, depending on the time they reached the rock. The rock itself was pretty easy to climb, and in addition there was a very strong wind which blew climbers towards the rock, making it impossible to fall while climbing.

Tomorrow we finally slow down the driving and get to see more places.

Three Ways to Not Stay Bored (while traveling through Utah and Wyoming)

·         Climb Independence Rock, a mountain-like hill, on a windy day. If you are on the right side of the rock, the wind will blow at such a high speed that it is nearly impossible to fall down. Lean over the edge! Balance on one leg! Do whatever crazy stunts you can think of! (Just not life threatening ones.)

·         Visit Salt Lake City. When you are in Salt Lake City, there are multiple things to do. You can visit the Mormon Church, eat breakfast/lunch/dinner, or just walk around and view the sights. Try not to get lost!

·         Watch “The Incredibles” movie when you’re driving. Unfortunately, it might not be possible to do in older models of bus.
