About age

My friend said my intense fear of aging recently is because of the sickness of dad. However, I don’t remember ever wanted to grow up quickly when I was little. Still now, I want to be young forever long. People would say it doesn’t matter how old you are, what matters is you have a young heart. It’s simply not true in my opinion. Age matters.

When I was young, people would say: oh, you are so beautiful. I thought it was just a compliment. Now at my age, I fully appreciate the meaning of that. Looking around and seeing teenagers with supple faces, bright eyes,  thick shinny hairs, firm body and bouncing steps (those are the things I love to have and gradually slipping away), I thought to myself: they are all so beautiful and they didn’t even realize that.

Karen is 69 now. Last week when I saw her at the resort, she told me she didn’t know where the time goes. She still felt like 30s.  Bob, sitting at the other end of the table over-heard us, said he felt like he’s in 20s. He is actually 69 too. People used to address elderly people as ‘seniors’ or ‘at golden age’, now more tactically as ‘young at heart’. Nevertheless, it’s the same difference, the age no one can resist and reverse is creeping up at you.

Well, the only thing I can do about age is to be happy, kind to the ones I love and enjoy each moment of life. The rest, I’d leave that to the All-mighty.
