A very famous Frankfurter Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832) [1]
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was born on August 28, 1749 in Frankfurt. He was taught by his father Johann Capar Goethe and studied law later at his father’s wish in Leipzig and Strassburg. After a short career as a lawyer in Frankfurt he began to write, many of his most known works were written in Frankfurt during his early years. Goethe interested in literature, art and like his father also the natural sciences. In 1775, he moved to Weimar at the request of Duke Carl August of Saxony. He gained his financial independence through his connection to Duke Carl August and even became a state minister. Goethe traveled extensively and became the most famous German poet through his literature works. His influence on literature, art and music extends far beyond the borders of Germany and makes him one of the most important cultural figures in Europe.
