My Tech Support

(2009-04-03 23:28:25) 下一個

The internet on the desktop computer was acting up, and it still is. After my futile efforts, I decided to turn to the tech support.

I got on the phone with the automated service and finally got connected to a gal tech support. She walked me through the process again and again but the problem persisted. Finally she suggested to send a technician over early next week.

I replied, “ Let’s hold on to that suggestion for a day or two. I will try to get some more technically advanced friends over tomorrow and if the problem is solved, that would save your guys a trip. How is that?”

She started giggling right after I said “technically advanced”.

Well, it only made sense if I added a bit background. Though the whole conversation was geared towards tech support, it was neverthless a pleasant phone experience for both of us.

“Sounds great!” She cheerfully chirped.

“If my technically advanced friends could not solve the problem, I will at least find out two things.” I continued, jokingly.

“What would that be?”

“I will at least know then that, either I am as smart as they are, or, they are just as dumb as I am.” I said to her.

She started laughing and said to me, “Working night shift doesn’t seem so bad. I do enjoy chatting with you. Thanks for calling xxx. Good night!”

I hanged up the phone, light-hearted. The problem is still there. But so what? The process is not tedious, though a little sleep-depriving. Besides, one of our friendly neighbors always keeps the wireless unlocked and there are still ways to get online.

I have learned to be content and being content is a healthy emotion, isn't it?
