The red land of the Eastern River is a place where one cannot find in China's tourist maps.
It is located in the northwestern part of KUNMING, 2600 ft. above sea level, in a remote area. Because of its lack of infrastructure, transportation, inadequate lodging facilities, a travel agency would not think of going there.
The people living there are not aware of its existing beauty.
But for those who have seen the pictures of the Red land, no one can resist being attracted to its beautiful scenery. It's like a painting of a magnificent landscape.
The soil contains oxidized iron. After a long period of oxidation, it gradually mixed in the soil that produced this extra-ordinary reddish brown soil.
Here in these mountains and hills, every inch of land is cultivated and planted to the maximum, consequently causing erosion.
As Taiwan, how long could this magnificent phenomenon exist? We don't know. That's why there is an advocacy of returning to forestry.

Excursion is the soul's relaxation and banquet.
Multicolor waves...six kinds of color mountains look like multicolor waves, so magnificent.
Crops on the Red Land, such as potatoes, oats, corn, oil flower vegetables, different color crops so arranged, when looking from afar, it seems like God painted them on a cloth full of gorgeous color.
Each family was distributed different sizes and shapes of land. Each has its own preference, kinds of crops. That caused and produced this beautiful pattern. During harvest the soil is shoveled up and makes this unusually red color.
In September, white flowers are in bloom on the whole mountain. It is a pity they cover up the beautiful red color. The best time for a sightseeing tour is the middle of November.
How I wish to lie down, enjoying the breeze and looking at the ever-changing clouds
Early in the morning, a donkey cart full of harvest transports to town, while children walk to school
Different seasons, different time of day, different sunlight, produces different colors.
A mixed color palate, so bright... splendid
"Sunset is beautiful but it is almost dark" The most dazzling color is before the sun sets.
A rare opportunity to see the burning clouds. I set up my camera and got it!
A bad-tempered donkey didn't want to work with the bull- such an uncoordinated team. This is the first time I saw this kind of farming method and wondered why.
The poorer farmers used horses instead of donkeys. I learned that since different kinds of animals have different temperaments, they were used together to control each other. If one refused to move, the other one would force it to.
This increases production. I think such an ancient method could only be seen here.
