38. Echo Tube
The other day, I was listening to the radio while driving, when the host and several guests started discussing a topic, about which I had formed my opinion. The guests, as usual, held different positions and debated each other after stating their respective ones. Soon after one of the guests started talking about his perspective on the issue, which contracted mine sharply and sounded absurd to me, I changed the channel even without thinking about it. The music on the second channel calmed me down and I thought to myself, "If I simply refuse to listen to opinions different from my own and essentially confine myself in an echo tube, won't I become more and more stubborn and narrow-minded as years go by?" Realizing this, I switched back to the first channel and listened to the discussion all the way. Although in the end I was not persuaded, I was happy I had listened.
