My conviction is that Vladimir Putin cannot survive his disastrous war of aggression in Ukraine. The best for all would be that he is ousted, commits suicide like Hitler or is shot like Mussolini as soon as possible.

對普京而言，值此俄軍在烏克蘭戰場麵對重大挫敗時刻，這場峰會是展現國際社會無法孤立莫斯科的機會。對習近平來說，則是他自疫情爆發兩年多來首次海外出訪，是提高他全球政治聲望的機會，尤其在中共10月召開20大之前。 對這兩位領導人而言，這場峰會是展示不把西方放在眼裏的機會，特別是對美國。

 

由於台灣問題，習近平需要利用此次峰會拉幫結派對付美國，而烏東戰場上的嚴重失利也逼迫曾經霸氣衝天的普京降下身段，小心翼翼字斟句酌，將中國土耳其的強人領袖牢牢綁到自己的戰車上。對中俄兩國來說此次上合峰會來的及時，讓逆境中的普京和習近平都可以各撈各的救命稻草。

2. Putin is also a disaster in foreign policy. Since he lies all the time & loves to assassinate people, few wants to talk to him & those who do are not very decent or impressive. Putin has rendered Russia utterly isolated & sanctioned, almost like Iran & North Korea.
