Maybe the best investment decision I ever made is: in 06 I gave up micro-managing my IRAs (tired of picking funds and rebalancing, and trading cost is eating into my capital), and bought BRKB. Have not trade in IRAs ever since.
I would also highly recommend Roger Lowenstein's When Genius Failed: The Rise and Fall of Long-Term Capital Management. I have audio-book and keep going back listen to it.
