André Rieu released the new album "Arrivederci Roma" on November 13, 2015 - a tribute to the eternal city. In Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands and Denmark, the CD will be released under the title "Arrivederci Roma". In France, called the panel "Romance italienne", the rest of the world "Roman Holiday". André Rieu shows how versatile the footsteps of Italy in Arts are. Every single song interprets the Johann Strauss Orchestra in his own way. Imagine yourself transported by this wonderful Italian music to the eternal city of Rome. As we have come to expect from André, he leads us from popular opera arias like ‘Libiamo’ via a stirring waltz from the ‘Italian Capriccio’ to colourful Italian folk songs and hits such as ‘Mattinata’, ‘l’Italiano’, ‘Felicità’ and of course ‘Arrivederci Roma’. André Rieu dedicates himself to the most beautiful and popular Italian melodies, interpreting them in his very own way. Just like Strauss himself, who preferred to perform in public parks rather than the salons of high society, Rieu stands in the centre of the stage at his concerts, amidst extravagant sets and a huge ensemble of musicians and chorus.
Also like Strauss, Rieu conducts his orchestra with his violin bow and breaks the dusty rules of classical music by making jokes, telling stories, and occasionally even adding a dash of slapstick comedy. All the while, the audience clap enthusiastically in the aisles, sing, hum and dance. "I try to have fun on stage and also involve the audience", he says. "I think that classical music has lost its contact with the people. I'm happy when I play for the crowd and can be with them. That's what I do, and I simply love it!"
"Angelo Mio"
The album opens with a haunting melody. The Australian-Dutch singer Mirusia Louwerse who has previously collaborated with André Rieu, sings with The Platinum Tenors this song written by André Rieu and Frank Steijns with a text his wife Marjorie Rieu. In music video for the piece of orchestral conductor Mirusia Louwerse may accompany the bride's father to the altar.
"Capriccio Italien"
Strong winds passages drawing the piece by Tchaikovsky, in which the composer processed Italian melodies. Not without reason it has Rieu placed at the beginning of the CD, it announces yet worthy of what still may come on the album.
"Gabriel's Oboe"
The third song on the album is the movie "The Mission" and borrowed comes from the soundtrack. This was created by the well-known for his spaghetti western composer Ennio Morricone. The gentle and quiet melody invites you to dream.
"Felicità"
Next, the receiver expects a melody, the most of Al Bano and Romina Power will be aware. Strongly accented with a harpsichord and a widely projecting midsection presents André Rieu his version of the Italo-Schlagers "Felicità"
"La Traviata (Ouverture)"
Tragic fluent kidnapped us the Johann Strauss Orchestra in the opera by Giuseppe Verdi. The almost pleading strings take us into the stage work to the side of the main character - the courtesan Violetta.
"La Solitudine"
Relaxing on the other hand acts "La Solitudine". The sounds of a grand piano rippling almost casually on a wall of sound in the strings go. Towards the end of the song gets almost imperceptibly increasing volume and built up the phone to exit him gently.
"Humming Choir"
This song has its original in the Puccini opera "Madame Butterfly". Accompanied by flute is almost imperceptible, a women's choir to hear, could also sing in the small chapel of a huge Roman cathedral.
"L'Italiano"
In this song, we encounter a macho gigolo. The orchestra is here at the tune of the Italy-pop classic "Lasciatemi Cantare" Cantautore of Toto Cutugno and brings a certain big-band sound momentum.
"Intermezzo Sinfonico"
Weeping violins convey a melancholy. A large expanse of Italian countryside spreads out before us with this song. He could be the soundtrack to a painful farewell scene.
"Libiamo"
Here we meet again Verdi's opera "La Traviata" with the drinking song. Fast parade way is working Rieu and his orchestra through the swinging arrangement and skilfully accentuates the catchy chorus.
"Dinner"
This song is again by film composers Ennio Morricone from the film "La Califfa". Compassionate occur here on the strings and give a lonely melody. Close to the listener you create an intimate atmosphere.
"A far l'amore cominicia tu"
Locker, fuzzy, easy is this song. The tune, written by Gianni Boncompagni and Franco Bracardi but we probably know from "Samba dance with me". Another way of looking at the popular song has André Rieu and his Johann here Strauss Orchestra.
"Mattinata"
This song fits perfectly to the evening sun, the light spreads over the Eternal City. At a lake just outside the town, on an old country road, we could relax to these sounds.
"Bella Ciao"
Here presents André Rieu how diverse may be the Italian music. In "Bella Ciao" resonates with a hint of Argentina, "or was it something Greek"? asks the listener, as he seems to hear sounds even Russian in the Balkans with the tambourine.
"Gigi L'Amoroso"
The song sounds a little seductive, a little playful. It fits well into the second part of the album and is preparing the final with an impressive development front.
"Arrivederci Roma"
A little playful goodbye to André Rieu with "Arrivederci Roma" by the listeners and from Rome.
