Birthday self-reflection

It's more meaningful to do self-reflection than going out eating or accepting gifts on a birthday.// The reflection point of self's birthday today is a key question: why don't I have mental attachment to other people? // Other people can make friends very quickly in a new environment. I, on the other hand, can be in a place for a long time without having many people knowing me deeply. When in high school, I lived with a colleague of my father for years without talking to him more than ten sentences. Always afraid to join others and feel others as peers. // The reasons I can think of: 1) Thinking too high of self and be indifferent to other people. Don't underestimate other people. They are as smart as you are. 2) Lack of curiosity. Because of reason #1, others are not inspiring to you. But while some people do boring things, many others do interesting things. It's a good trait to check things out and be aware of others' interests. 3) Timidity. Grown up in an isolated environment without much strong protection, it is natural to be timid. Now you know people are no better than you if you stand up. See them as peers. //Just like a husband to wife, parent should protect his or her kid unconditionally. I would not be so timid if my mother or father offers unconditional love and protection. // People are smart, tell them what you think. Even if you don't tell, they can feel it. So be more open. If you share your feeling with others, people will feel you trust them, think you are not as cold as you seem, and offer their emotional support. (7/2/2010)
