Velocity of thoughts

How does one come up with a creative solution to a difficult problem? People tend to think large head implies high IQ. I think there is some truth in it. I think the velocity of thoughts in your head is very important. If you have a large brain, you can store more information in your head. In fact, all the information necessary to solve the problem is stored in the brain. You don't have to go "off-chip" to retrieve information. The velocity of thoughts would be much greater. The skills to do calculation in your head quickly are very important too. Again, it increases the velocity of thoughts. You don't have to rely on computers to do them, which would be a "off-chip" transaction.

I had pretty good skills doing simple math in my head when I was a kid. I tried to develop it in my son. We play the game of making 21s or 100s. I say a number x. He would say (21-x). He is still quite slow. But he is getting better. I thought I would be the parent that is more relaxed with my son's academic performance. But that is not the case. I want him to be smart so as to confirm I am smart. So far, I haven't seen any sign of special talent from him. He is probably a smart normal kid, which is fine. He probably has a better chance being happy this way.
