A visiting student from China is working on his PhD over here in an office close by. Days ago, he asked me to proofread his dissertation. The writing was horrible. There is no logic in it. The experiments do not support the hypothesis at all. Some of the paragraphs are just piles of sentences taken from published articles without changing anything, and there are no connections and logic between them. I can't even stand reading through the whole thing. Recall many years ago when I got my MS degree in China, my thesis was also like that. Things are not changing! Yeah, the educational system in China still encourages students to use their hands, not brain.
I know this guy is going back to China and a good position is waiting for him. I'm sure there are many people, who may not even have the educational level like him, are in high positions in China and have powers. They can decide your salary, your funding, your promotion, etc. Are you really thinking of going back there to develop your career?
