Police pelted during chase

SIX people packed in a stolen car pelted police with objects thrown out of the windows during a 30-minute chase through Sydney\'s western suburbs early today.

A large number of officers, backed by a police helicopter and dog squad, joined the pursuit through Mt Druitt and Blacktown after the car, reported stolen on Wednesday, was spotted at Doonside.

Police tried to stop the car about 12.30am (aest), but the driver ignored the call.

Police said items were thrown from the vehicle at pursuing officers before the six occupants were finally arrested as police closed in from neighbouring commands of Blacktown, Quakers Hill and Hawkesbury.

A 16-year-old Tregear youth was charged over stealing and driving the stolen car, as well as a number of driving offences and resisting arrest. He is due to appear in Cobham Childrens Court today.

A 15-year-old Airds youth charged with being carried in a stolen car is also due to appear in Cobham Childrens Court today.

A 20-year-old Tregear man charged with being carried in a stolen car, throwing the objects at police, and resisting arrest is due in Mt Druitt Local Court today.

A 15-year-old Dubbo girl charged with being carried in a stolen car is due to in Cobham Childrens Court on 17 July.

A 20-year-old Dubbo woman charged with being carried in a stolen car is due in Mt Druitt Local Court on July 17.

A 17-year-old Willmot youth charged with being carried in a stolen car is due to in Cobham Childrens Court on July 17.
