Install is a dream - takes about 10 minutes - however if you are thinking of installing it on any of the work PCs make sure you have your RAID / SCSI drivers downloaded from your vendors first.
Once installed - I decided to install Sql server, and the two flavours of Visual Studio on it (2003 and 2005)
Ok Try and Install SQL Server 2000; - Microsoft will tell you that there are known compatibility issues - hit the link and MS does not support SQL Server 2K any more - well at least on Vista - they HIGHLY recommend just to use 2k5.
Next try and Install either version of Vis Studio - both have known compatibility issues - however no reason why - however I managed to install both of them and they APPEAR to work ok.
Even installing SQL Server 2K5 will throw up a "Known compatibility issue" = you have to locate and then install SQL Server 2k5 service Pack 2 before it will work.
So on the off chance you wanted a Vista box to work here with - forget it for now.
And for those of you who were thinking of installing it on a laptop so you can work from home etc, the final thing I noticed is that YOU CANNOT USE JUNIPER to VPN in. If you go to the Juniper web site, they don't support IE7 and they won't be supplying a Vista version until Q1 2007. So maybe we need to look around for a different VPN access for vista support. If you'd like to voice your frustration at the Juniper people just get off at level 1 in our new building!!
Other than that it's great - just as long as you want a new pretty looking interface that is practically no use for our Devs at this stage (ooooooh that's a bit harsh!!)
