在過去的幾周裏，我和女兒一起對I am Mei Ling (1)又進行了多次的修改。下麵是幾處修改的例子。

Suddenly, a gust of cold wind

I couldn’t help shivering

And I couldn’t see anything.

在原I am Mei Ling (1)中有5，6個verses都是和Ling壓韻，為此我們進行了修改。

And my eyes couldn’t see.

(36) (old)

My mom put a soft pink sheet

On the top bunk of the bed.

Then she held one of my hands.

Forcing a smile, she said,

在這一章裏，原來有兩處都是bed，said壓韻，為此修改了一處。

Mom put a pink sheet on the top bunk

After she had cleaned the bed a while.

Then she gently held one of my hands.

She said to me, forcing a smile.

Dad’s shadow moved strangely.

When he was unpacking.

I knew it was his shadow.

It still frightened me, Mei Ling.

對unpacking和Ling來壓韻進行了修改。

(44) (new)

Dad’s shadow moved strangely on the wall,

When he unpacked the things we brought.

Although I knew it was his shadow,

It still frightened me, a whole lot.

(75) (old)

He never tells lies.

I thought that in my brain.

“Look at my eyes, sweetheart,”

Dad said to me, again.

Again的發音有兩種，當again的尾音發in時與brain壓韻，當again的尾音發en時與then壓韻。

在I am Mei Ling (1)中曾使用again與then壓韻，again的發音應統一為en，不能用brain和again，所以對此處進行了修改。
