要洋氣不要土氣

For whatever reason, I call my mom and more than I was used to.
And every time when I call her, she will ask me to take care of myself, eat well, sleep well and do excises. She requires me to do more housework so that my wife will be free and take more rest. She would say that my wife is beautiful and kind.  She tells me that it is my luck to get my wife. She is very proud of her, and so are our villagers.
Whenever I send some money to my mom, she would say that she does not need money.  She often says,” your father was passed away so early while you were so small.  I didn’t take care of you enough.  It is not easy for you to be abroad, you have a large house, a big mortgage and two kids.  I know America is too expensive.”
And every call is of course most about our two little sweeties.  She always says that both kids are so beautiful and so lovely.  They are born in America. They are Americans.  Don’t forcing them to do whatever they don’t like to do, for example learning Chinese.  She always encourages me to do whatever Americans do as how Americans do.  Just like she always asked me to be 要洋氣不要土氣when I was in college in China.
Yes, it is very hard to believe that my mom is from a tiny mountain village.  She is just so super and unique.  Everytime that I talk to her is a wonderful joy and a great education.  It is always so moving, touching and inspiring.
