How much does it cost to raise a child in the US

Just some digest from the newspaper.

According to the government estimates,  it costs $279,000 (or $16000 a year  through age 17) to raise a child born in 2005 for a family in the top third income bracket. One girl wants to raise ten children, then she needs to prepare $2,790,000 for the expenses, haha.  The article further estimates that if you want to send your child to a private school, then it will cost additional $6000 a year or $60,000 in total.  Besides, if you want to increase your children's experience and competitiveness, you may want to spend some money in family travel or art training classes or sports team. So,  I estimate that it should cost $350,000 to raise a child before college. I am planning to have three children, so that is about $1 million. That's a lot. That doesn't include college tuition and expenses. Hope I can have smart children so that they can earn scholarship, haha. The first step is to find a smart wife.

From now on, I will work hard so that  I will have money to raise three children. ^_^

Here is the breakdown of child spending for curious readers.

Education: $36,030

Transportation:$37,140

Health Care: $16,620

Entertainment:$33,000

Housing: $103,380

Food:$40,560

Clothing:$12,720

My friend said that he is going to feed his children with instant noodle so that he can save a lot of money from food, hehe.
