This morning I rode my bike thru Johnson Street Bridge in Victoria and saw a sign that reads
DO NOT PASS CYCLISTS
Now I understood why the vehicles were all following me when I was riding on the bridge last week, even though I was on the very right side of the road.
Wow... that's really something for cyclists in the Cycling Capital of Canada!
I have been riding on the beautiful Galloping Goose Trail and here is a bit more info about the trail:
Galloping Goose Trail
British Columbia
Galloping Goose Trail follows an old railway line past farmland, a quiet cove and hidden lake, rocky outcrops, a Douglas-fir forest, marshland and more. The 55-km (34-mi) trail links to several parks, with wildlife evident everywhere.
From Victoria West, start out at the Selkirk Trestle and follow the trail west to Sooke. There, turn north and continue to the old gold mining area of Leechtown.
From downtown Victoria, cross the Johnson Street Bridge. Turn right onto the paved path that connects to Harbour Road and the trail.
Galloping Goose Trail is multi-use, so be prepared to share the road with others from time to time.
I hope next time when you are here you will not miss the riding on the trails!
I was so supprised that some of my friends who have been here for over three years told me they even never heard of the trail!
Inspired by so many wodnerful cyclists here, especially many lady cyclists in great shape passing by, I really wanted to jump to a bike and start to ride, and that's exactly what happened to me --- I only had three days of bus riding and enough was enough for that; cycling is so wonderful, more so in this beautiful city!
But it was so beautiful, I love Vancouver, i miss the breeze from the ocean, and I admit I miss the food a lot too.:)
Soooo jealous of you, hehe
