Zoe started fiddling with something in her pocket, it made a small scrunching sound and Mum heard it, she looked at Zoe, held out her hand and said” Give it to me.” Zoe slowly took her hand out of her pocket and put it in mum’s hand. It was a piece of paper with some writing on it, which read:
To: Pearl:
Tomorrow- play time
Meet at top benches.
Plan M.T
From: Amelia (Ruby)
P.S. bring notebook cos record notes
“Oh! So you’ve had your name changed, P e a r l.” said mum, she looked at Zoe with a serious look on her face. “No, mum, it’s just me and Amelia, we’re doing a club.” She took out of her pocket another piece of shining silver paper with printed writing that said: Girl Spies (gemz). “That was a rhetorical question; it does not require an answer.” By that I could tell that whoever Amelia was, she wasn’t a very nice girl. Well at least she was a big show-off. And Zoe must be a clever liar, because she had managed to persuade mum to forgive her!
The next day was Monday. Zoe was in year3, she was meant to be in year2, but she was far too clever for that. Everyone thought it was strange because she was even younger than the youngest person in year2! At playtime I spied at my sister. She spent all playtime sitting at the top benches with a blond girl, with a notebook in her hand. They seemed to be planning something strange. At lunchtime I spied at them again, this time they were dancing, but in a strange way, similar to character dance. I think, it might be that they want to teach some of the other children dance. Or what?
I grew very curious. And was desperate to find out what they were up to. So, that very next morning play I followed close behind Amelia wherever she went. Soon I managed to catch her at the end of playtime as she lined up in her class’s line. I ran over to her as fast as my legs could carry me and said with my politest voice” Hello, may I say Amelia.” Amelia pulled a very showy-off face at me and replied” Yes.” “Well you know Zoe Amarnd, the girl you always play with. She’s my sister and I would like to talk to you about her.” Amelia didn’t seem to be very interested in what I was saying; she turned around in one of the rudest way you could think off and carried on walking. I felt really small and unimportant to be bullied by someone who was younger than me, but what could I do? It’s obvious that Amelia has followers who would stand up for her, and one of them was Zoe, my sister. Somehow I have to convince Zoe not to follow Amelia, and if I want to do that, Zoe would have to understand that Amelia wasn’t a good person to follow. It seems a bit impossible now that she and Zoe are such good friends, but anything is possible!
That evening, I didn’t feel very well. During the day, I had wrecked my brains, thinking about Zoe and Amelia, and how I could achieve my anti-impossible goal. Nerves seemed to surround me, as I got weaker and weaker. Soon I felt sick of worry. I must have acted strange, because before long, mum asked me; “What’s wrong Chloe, are you alright? I jumped “Oh, Yeah, I’m fine!” I said quickly. “Well, you don’t seem to be.” Sighed mum, as she started laying the table for supper. This added to my nerves, now mum‘s getting involved with it, what could be worse? Mum sent me to bed early, encase I was ill, I knew I wasn’t, but if I said so, it’ll only make things worse.
When I woke up the next morning, I felt really ill, it was as though I just ate something that I was allergic to in the car, and then read a book! If you’ve ever been carsick, and felt as though you were going to vomit in any second, well that’s how I felt. I lay in bed, with my hand on my forehead thinking about what will happen next, suddenly mum opened the door and peeped in, when she saw that I was awake, she came in and sat down next to me. Mum looked worried, she stared at me ” Did you have a nightmare tonight?” she asked, “You were sleep-talking about...” she gulped “…your sister!” I was horrified, my hairs stood up on the back of my head, it felt like they were trying to talk to me!
