When my son was 4 years old, one day we were playing in the back yard and saw a lemon fell from the tree onto the ground. Seizing a great opportunity for teaching him about gravity, I asked my son “Sweetie, why do you think the lemon fall onto the ground rather than flying up in the air?” He looked at the sky and thought for a moment, then said “Because the cloud doesn’t have hands to pick up the lemon.” I was so moved by his innocent, beautiful and poetic response that I forgot to teach him about the gravity.

My two and a half years old daughter loves to eat apple, so I cut an apple for her to eat almost everyday, by using an apple-utter. I would give her every sliver of the apple and I sometimes take a nip on the core. One day, after I cut up an apple, my daughter took the core and handed to me, said “ 媽媽,這是你的,你最愛吃的.” I couldn’t help myself to give her a big hug and a kiss.

When my girl about two years old, one morning Grandpa made some scrambled egg for her breakfast. While she was eating at the dinner table, I walked by, took a piece and quickly ate it. When I turned around and looked at my daughter, she pointed her index finger to the living room and with a very serious expression on her face, said “ Time out!” We all laughed so hard that my husband came over to investigate.

My younger son , when he was around five he would occasionally wet his bed at night, and he would feel embarrassed and upset about it. One morning, he wetted his bed again, so I said to him “ little Anchovy, (his nick name when he pees his bed) you wet your bed last night.” He was not happy to hear the news and turned grouchy immediately. He shouted at me, “ I’m not Anchovy, and I didn’t pee my bed! Brian did it.”
“How did Brian pee on your bed?” I couldn’t hide my smile.
“He just peed my bed and then went back to his own bed to sleep.”
It was so funny and it also reminded me of a funny thing that my Dad told me once. When I was little, one day I wetted my bed, I tried very hard to convince him that I didn’t pee my bed, in fact, that big wet spot was only my sweat. Well, I guess it must runs in the family.

We were visiting the Forbidden City last year. All my kids got a Chinese flag before we entering the gate. While we were walking leisurely in the courtyard, I suddenly heard commotion behind us. I turned around and shockingly saw that my daughter was stamping and jumping on her Chinese Flag and laughing. I quickly put her flag away, but she got hold of it and did it again. This time I took the flag away from her. It was a funny moment but I have to admit that I was a little scared too. My daughter’s childish play could easily land all of us in jail in the past.
