鋼琴 piano

An instrument with a manual keyboard actuating hammers that strike wire strings, producing sounds that may be softened or sustained by means of pedals.

一種樂器，用手操作鍵盤驅動打擊鋼絲線產生聲音，可以通過踏瓣的方式調輕聲音或使之持續不斷。
由古鋼琴和羽管鍵琴直接發展而成。十八世紀初(1709年)，意大利人克利斯托弗利在羽管鍵琴上采用帶小槌的鍵盤機械。這樣，在彈奏時可以隨意變更小槌的敲擊力，從而可以改變音量。十九世紀發展為“三角鋼琴”和“立式鋼琴”，新式大、小鋼琴都有88個黑白鍵與三個踏板，音域自A2至c5。黑白鍵按十二平均律半音排列。鋼琴的音域寬、音量大，音色變化豐富，彈奏時可快速重複擊弦發音，可以改變音量，可演奏多聲部結構的音樂作品，演奏技巧比較複雜，是主要的獨奏與伴奏樂器，同時也可以合奏，重奏或用於管弦樂隊。用大譜表記譜，實際音高與記譜同。

羽管鍵琴（撥弦古鋼琴） harpsichord

A stringed instrument resembling a grand piano but usually having two keyboards and two or more strings for each note and producing tones by the plucking of strings with plectra.

一種臥式豎琴型或梯形的鍵盤樂器，類似三角鋼琴，但通常有兩層鍵盤（部分為一層，及其個別亦有三層）和兩套或更多的弦（每套發出不同音質的音），通過羽管或皮製撥子（撥子連接一頂重器，一般為一根直立的木杆）撥弦，賴琴鍵內端推動發聲。
