The Great Illustrated Classics series offers easy to read abridgements of well known classics, featuring large print and illustrations. The series is targeted for younger readers, but the writing style is suitable for adult readers as well. Currently there are 69 titles.
Occasionally, books in the series will steer far away from their source materials. The GIC for H.G. Wells' The Time Machine, for instance, has an entire chapter that does not appear in the book, substantially changing the ending.
