No doubt it is the worse Slam Final I have seen so far that Roger has played.(even comparing to the loss to Rafa in Frence Open) I think he played much better in the Roddick match a few days ago. Maybe because his confidence level is different when playing Roddick. Maybe the pressure of getting closer to Pete\'s Slam record is getting to him. Maybe the loss in Montreal to Djokovic affects his confidence. For the first 1 and 3/4 sets, I did not see the normal Roger that we have been accustomed seeing. He was playing so conservatively. Did not see the killer forehand winners, nor the incredible crosscourt backhand flip passing shots. And he had 34 unforced errors for the match? Djokovic really out played him during the first 1 and 3/4 sets. It is very ironic that this time around Djokvic was serving for the first set at 6-5, 40-0 and lost in the tie-breaker.(the reversal of the Montreal final) But Roger is Roger, he came up big at the right time and at the big points. Djokovic should have won the first set, no doubt about it. Guess the pressure of the big occasion finally gets to the Djokovic. But this should be a very good learning experience for Djokovic, and with his all round games, we should see him in more Slam Finals in the future.
Roger finally found his serving targets toward the end of the 2nd set, and that seems to finally get his confidence back and it seems to carry over to all parts of his games and he finally whipped a few signature forehand winners. From there on, we pretty much see the inevitable outcome of the match, and it was just the matter of time.
As Agassi once said: Tennis is a game you don\'t have to be perfect to win, you just have to be better than your opponent
Guess Roger wasn\'t perfect today, but he was just better than Djokovic.
