That mostly because Chinese government doesn't understand the importance to win a media war. Today, you don't need weapon to win a war. Yes, there are quite high percentage of Americans/westerns have bias opinion about Chinese government because of 64 and other human right related issues. This is why Chinese government should leverage media to open china to the world. I can assure every American who visits China will be surprised to see a very different China from the deion of western media.
In your case, you can ask your American friends what made them think Chinese government is wrong in Tibet, ask them about their news sources.

I've viewed this video many many times. I really appreciate this guy's great work and it really tells a story which is much much more powerful than tons of words. Let me make this clear again, the government of china might have done a lot of things bad to "han and zang" ethnic group during the past time. But this time it did something "stupid" again because it showed too much leniency to those riots. Western media might have been "unbiasd" here and there. But this time they are so "right" again showing their great capability to hide the truth...
Here goes the translation:

Thank you for the photos and comments. I have been also debating with a class of American college students who firmly believe that Tibet is not part of China and the Chinese government is using force to invade Tibet. I would like to use your photos here and translate the comments into English to present to my students. Hope you don't mind.
The Chinese government lost a great opportunity to fight back to the biased western media during this Tibet riot. They should let the western media along with all other media staying in Tibet and broadcast the real situation. Obviously, some media will just report "one-side" stories, while others broadcast "two-sides". Once audience identify the problem with those one-side stories, the biased media will lose credibility and possibly broadcasting license, I'm sure there are laws/regulations on how to deal with biased/wrong reports.
The auidence (including westerns) have the ability to identify the truth from made-up stories. Winning this media war is significant for China.
If most media can broadcast the actual riot/terrorists' attacks to the world, China don't have to explain anything. Only few medias (CNN/BBC) distort the fact, majority will broadcast the fact. There is no question the "protesters" are terrorists and should be cracked down by force!
But, China should trust the media and trust the audience. There are always different opinions, but no one can change or deny the fact.
The issue of 西藏 has long been a critical and debating topic in my family. Thank you for sharing this with us. Where can I get a link of this video? I would like to present it to my husband and daughter who firmly believe that 西藏 is not a part of China.

奴隸製社會 has different levels. tibet wasn't like the slavery system you think ... most of the so called "slaves" were kind of lazy, it was between a slavery and communism system. also, religion is very important for them, similar as islam. you may ask why would bin laden do what he did, being born in a billionaire family.
