F-1 to H-1B in the U.S. now must pay the new $100000

• For anyone changing from F-1 to H-1B status within the U.S., unless their case qualifies for an exemption, the $100,000 annual fee is required for the sponsoring company starting September 21, 2025.

• There is no published indication that students already in the U.S. on F-1 visa are exempt from this new fee if they seek a change of status, as the new rule covers both new applicants and status changes.

• Most of the costs for an H-1B petition are normally paid by the employer, including this new required government fee.
